It’s all change at The Office Chair Shop!  Our new years resolution a few weeks ago (I  can’t believe we are nearly finished with January already!!) was to improve the experience for our customers, both new and returning.

We are always keen to hear your comments about the site and to prove that we do listen we have acted on a few of them….

A few people mentioned this on our Facebook page.  We have now simplified some of our categories and moved a few items around which means you should be able to find what you are after in fewer clicks!!

One of our  returning customers wanted a contrast in some of the chairs in their offices. We have now expanded many of our  chairs colour options to give you even more variety!!

The Rockingham Race Style Office Chair is a fantastic model based on the type of seating you find in racing cars. Its stylish soft mesh upholstery is complimented with bonded leather and funky red piping  and features include height adjustable arm rests, height adjustment control and a tilt mechanism.

The sporty look of this chair is finished off with a heavy duty 5 star silver base.

The second chair on offer is the Assen. This chair continues the sporty theme and features soft fabric upholstery with bonded leather central panelling, the well padded seat offers excellent comfort as do the soft padded arms and headrest.

The seat is height adjustable, there is a tilt/recline facility and the ultra comfortable arms are height adjustable. The heavy duty 5 star base completes the look.

The new Starkins Eames style office chair range.

Introducing our new Starkins range of office chairs.

Brand new to The Office Chair Shop is a fabulous new range of chairs which are based on an immensely popular design which first appeared in  the 20^th century.

The chairs in question are the Starkins High Back, StarkinsMedium Back and Starkins Cantilever

which all feature chrome framing, soft faux leather upholstery and contoured backs for added comfort.   These stylish chairs are based on the popular range of seating designed by the Eames family of America who produced works from various media between the 1930s and  1970s.

Charles Ormond Eames (1907 – 1978) and Bernice Alexandra “Ray” Eames (1912-1988) were married in 1941 and throughout the 50s 60s and 70s produced lots of major contributions to modern architecture and furniture.

The “Eames Aluminium Group” of chairs on which the Starkins is based first appeared in 1958. It was originally manufactured with mesh but this was quickly discontinued and over the years different materials have been used – the most iconic of which is the black leather version .

Ironically, although this furniture range is considered an icon of office furniture it was originally commissioned as  an outdoor seating range for the home . This idea quickly vanished however and the chair found its more familiar setting in the office. A place where it has remained for over 50 years!
